Award ceremony on 16 October 2015 at the Théâtre Equilibre in Fribourg
The Federal Office of Culture presented the second Swiss Dance Awards on 16 October 2015 at the Théâtre Equilibre in Fribourg, in the presence of Federal Councillor Alain Berset. The Swiss Grand Award for Dance went to Gilles Jobin, choreographer and head of the eponymous company in Geneva. At the same event, the Outstanding Female and Male Dancer accolades were presented to Simone Aughterlony and Ioannis Mandafounis, respectively, while Claude Ratzé and Association pour la danse contemporaine (ADC) in Geneva received the Special Dance Award. The Federal Dance Jury also selected four winners in the Current Dance Works competition, and the June Johnson Dance Prize was presented to Daniel Hellmann and 3art3 Company. In addition to the presentations and film tributes, miR Compagnie from Basel performed the breakdance duo “Loop” and two Bachelor students from the Zurich University of the Arts danced a duet from Martin Schläpfer’s “Kunst der Fuge”. The tribute to Gilles Jobin took the form of a film portrait, as the company was performing abroad on the day of the ceremony.
